‘CP AXTRA’ Empowers the Elderly with the “60 Still Growing Strong” Project, Strengthening Thai Society

Bangkok, 6 May 2025 – Thailand officially became an aged society in 2024. According to the Department of Older Persons under the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security, over 13 million people in Thailand - more than 20.17% of the population - are aged 60 or older. While this demographic shift is often viewed as a challenge, it also presents a unique opportunity to harness the wisdom, experience, and enduring spirit of the elderly to build a stronger and more inclusive society in Thailand.

Believing in the limitless potential of the elderly, CP AXTRA Public Company Limited, the operator of Asia’s leading wholesaler and retailer, “Makro” and “Lotus’s”, continues to advance its “60 Still Growing Strong” project. The project aims to empower older adults by offering suitable employment opportunities across its stores.

More than just providing jobs, “60 Still Growing Strong” creates opportunities for the elderly to shine once again through a range of engaging and opportunity-filled activities. One highlight is the “Tao-Kae Wai Kao” program, which provides vocational training to help seniors turn their experience into sustainable income through their own businesses. Those who already have quality products can also participate in the “Sook Jai Wai Kao Market” a dedicated, no-cost marketplace hosted by Makro and Lotus’s, where older adults can showcase their products, grow their networks, and engage with like-minded individuals.

The “60 Still Growing Strong” project delivers more than just economic opportunity, it enriches lives, reignites creativity, and proves that age is just a number. When every generation’s potential is unlocked, Thai society can move forward stronger and full of hope.
