A bright future for inmates close to release through a gift of chance can make a change under the project "Returning good people with decent career to society" developed by Makro and the Department of Corrections

Everyone wants to be a good person for their family and their community but sometimes people make mistakes and have to pay the price by serving time in a prison.

There are many inmates that are close to release but still have no clue what to do when they get out. Only if they were given a chance then they can make a change. A chance has finally come to them by allowing them to be able to stand on their two feet with dignity and pride. One of the inmates at Nonthaburi prison that participated in Makro’s joint project with the Department of Corrections "Returning good people with decent career to society" shared with us, “Thank you Makro, Department of Corrections and Nonthaburi prison management in giving us a chance to learn and develop skills to use when we leave. We can now better ourselves and look forward to a bright future where we don’t have to be in the same environment that led us here. Now we have a clear vision for our new life.”

Makro has developed professional skills in food business for the 60 inmates in Nonthaburi prison who close to release by training 6 menus that are easy to make and sell in order to prepare before release and be able to start a new life. Makro has a long-term plan to continuously create career for inmates from prisons across the country.
